How we got started

Maeq was born from a lifelong love for fragrances and a deep understanding of science. With a background in Pharmacy from BITS, I’ve always been fascinated by the art of blending ingredients—whether in formulations or fragrances. My passion for scents began in childhood, drawn to the way they evoke emotions and memories. Over the years, this fascination evolved into a mission: to create unique, high-quality fragrances that tell a story. Maeq is the result—where science meets artistry to craft scents that are distinct, personal, and unforgettable.

The Name

Maeq

Maeq /mɑː-ɛk/ is inspired by"Mehek" (महक)—a Hindi word for fragrance. Rooted in the essence of scent, the name embodies the idea of lingering memories and emotions carried through perfume. With a modern twist, Maéq represents a unique olfactory experience—where every fragrance tells a story.

The Philosophy

At Maeq, we use a blend of natural and synthetic ingredients to craft fine fragrances. While we value the richness of botanicals, “natural” isn’t always safer. Synthetics can sometimes be gentler on the skin and more sustainable for the planet.

Natural ingredient harvesting can be resource-intensive, often requiring large amounts of plant material for minimal yield. Some botanicals are also at risk of overharvesting. That’s why we partner with top fragrance houses to source responsibly and support sustainable practices.

In some cases, we choose nature-identical synthetics to reduce environmental impact and expand creative possibilities for our perfumers.

Sustainability has always been core to Maeq. From ingredients to packaging, we make intentional decisions to minimize waste while ensuring every product remains functional and beautiful.
